Geo-Technology Associates (GTA) is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Technician with a strong background in special inspections and construction materials testing to support projects throughout Central Florida. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on threshold buildings inspection experience who are committed to quality, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform special inspections in accordance with Florida Building Code (FBC) requirements, including threshold building inspections
- Inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- Conduct field testing, sampling, and inspections (concrete, masonry, structural steel, etc.)
- Prepare and maintain detailed daily field reports and inspection documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, clients, and project managers to communicate findings and resolve issues
- Assist with technical reporting and documentation for project deliverables
Ideal Candidate Profile:
You bring a strong foundation in construction inspections and meet at least one of the following:
- 5 years of experience in special inspections and/or construction materials testing (CMT)
- Experience performing inspections on threshold buildings (Florida experience strongly preferred)
- Possess certification(s) such as:
- ACI Concrete Special Inspector
- ICC Masonry Special Inspector
- ICC Structural Steel Special Inspector
Requirements:
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record
- U.S. work authorization (Visa sponsorship is not available)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physically able to lift 75 lbs. unaided (100 lbs. with assistance) and perform fieldwork duties
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
Physical & Sensory Requirements:
This position may involve extended periods of standing and repetitive physical activity, such as lifting, hammering, or using tools. You’ll need to be able to:
- Perform tasks involving frequent use of hands (handling, grasping, feeling)
- Engage in physical movements like reaching, climbing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and sitting
- Have the visual and sensory abilities needed for the role, including close and distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and smell detection
