What are the responsibilities and job description for the Geotechnical Engineering Technician position at Geo-Technology Associates Inc.?
Are you an early-career technician with an interest in construction materials testing and geotechnical fieldwork? We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Technician I in the Fort Myers, FL location to support construction projects through field observation, testing, and documentation. In this role, you will work alongside engineers, geologists, and scientists on a variety of geotechnical and environmental projects across both public and private sectors.
Work Schedule- Full-time position working four (4) 10-hour days per week
- Schedule may include early start times and flexibility based on project and field demands
- Perform field observation of construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards
- Conduct soil testing, including moisture and density testing using a nuclear density gauge
- Perform concrete testing (slump, air content, and unit weight)
- Conduct asphalt testing, including temperature and compaction verification
- Interpret and utilize civil drawings, project specifications, and geotechnical reports
- Accurately complete daily field reports, testing documentation, timesheets, and expense reports
- Assist laboratory and drilling teams as needed
- Maintain and properly handle company-issued equipment
- High school diploma or degree in civil engineering, environmental science, or related field
- 0–2 years of construction materials testing or geotechnical field experience (entry-level considered)
- Basic knowledge of soil, concrete, and asphalt testing; nuclear density gauge experience a plus
- Ability to read civil drawings and project specifications
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and clean driving record
- ACI, Nicet, FDOT/CTQP certifications preferred
