Duties

- Schedule appointments using various EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate billing processes.
- Collect and process payments accurately, including medical collections and billing procedures.
- Manage patient records by updating and reviewing documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with medical coding tasks, including CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and documentation.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of documents.
- Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as intake procedures and care plan documentation review.
- Utilize computer skills to operate office software like Microsoft Office and specialized EHR systems effectively.
- Ensure compliance with health information management standards and confidentiality protocols.
Skills
- Experience with medical office management and administrative support within healthcare settings. EXPERIENCE IN A MEDICAL OFFICE IS REQUIRED.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
- Ability to perform accurate 10-key typing and maintain high levels of accuracy in documentation review.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Competence in handling insurance verification processes and Medicare procedures when applicable.
