Key Duties & Responsibilities
The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Contribute to building a best-in-class venture capital program across primaries, secondaries and co-investments.
- Lead GEM’s secondaries and co-investment practice, an integral and growing part of its overall venture capital program
- Identify and assess secondary market opportunities, including LP interest sales and structured liquidity solutions
- Source and evaluate co-investment opportunities alongside GEM’s venture capital and technology-focused fund managers
- Lead underwriting and due diligence on secondary transactions and co-investments, including financial modeling, market analysis, and reference checks
- Build and maintain relationships with top-tier venture capital managers, technology investors, and intermediaries in the Bay Area and beyond
- Participate in capital formation activities and client-facing communications
- Mentor junior investment professionals and contribute to the firm’s investment process and culture
Successful candidates will display traits inherent in GEM’s collegial and team-oriented culture, including enthusiasm, honesty, humility, integrity, and curiosity.
- Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance; CFA or MBA preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience in venture capital, fund-of-funds, or institutional investing focused on the technology sector, with a track record of successful secondary transactions and co-investments
- Deep familiarity with the venture capital and technology investment landscape, particularly in the Bay Area
- Ability to conduct industry research, articulate opinions, and make clear and concise investment recommendations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, work ethic, and professional demeanor in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- The base salary range for this position is $250,000–$350,000 annually. The actual base salary will be determined based on experience, skills, and other job-related factors.
- This role will be eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus, based on both individual and Company performance.
