What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Service Writer position at G&D Integrated?
The Service Writer is a core member of our shop, ensuring the success of our mechanics.
Primary Job Duties:
- Daily service writer tasks such as handling breakdowns, assigning work to mechanics as well as weekend coverage as needed
- Managing inoperative equipment at the G&D facilities
- Handles all equipment breakdown & repairs including vendor selection, monitoring through completion and payments as needed
- Prepares, audits and completes work orders
- Schedules truck and trailer services with inside and outside shops
- Answer shop phone calls
- Handles driver walk-ups
- Distributes workload to the technicians
- Handle fuel requests
- Determines warranty repairs
- Monitor several reports daily
- Scan documents
- Working with operations to get needed equipment in for services/repairs
- Assist in training new mechanics and verifying work
- Helps technicians with diagnostics and repair issues
- Monitoring and improving efficiencies/workflows in the shop
- Assist shop manager with employee issues
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial maintenance shop is required which includes hands on mechanical experience
- Experience using standard office equipment; Maintenance software, Email and Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point
- Basic knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis and data presentation would be useful
- Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and customer service skills are a must
