Controller – Architecture & Design Industry

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a well-established architectural firm in Manhattan, NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with a strong background in the architecture or design industry to lead financial operations and support the firm's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including A/R, A/P, billing, payroll, revenue recognition, and cost accounting.
- Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, variance reports, and monthly financial statements.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Monitor financial performance and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support Project Managers, Architects, and Interior Designers with project cost tracking, job costing, and client progress billing.
- Prepare detailed financial and job cost reports to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 5 years of accounting and financial management experience.
- Prior experience in the architecture, engineering, or design industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Ajera accounting software is required.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 annually
