Senior Mechanical Engineer / Engineering Manager
Overview
A growing precision manufacturing organization supporting the defense and aerospace industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead engineering initiatives, support production growth, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in expanding production programs supporting critical military and aerospace applications. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering staff, collaborate with operations leadership, and serve as a primary engineering resource for complex machining and manufacturing projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and improvement of mechanical components, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams.
- Support CNC machining operations through design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles and process optimization.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, models, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Drive root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for production and quality issues.
- Manage engineering projects from concept through production release.
- Support prototype development, testing, validation, and transition into full-scale production.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing throughput.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and quality management systems.
- Participate in strategic planning related to production expansion and new program launches.
- Communicate project status, technical findings, and recommendations to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 8 years of mechanical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting CNC machining, precision machining, or metal component manufacturing.
- Strong CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated experience leading projects and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, materials, and mechanical systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred
- Prior management, supervisory, or engineering leadership experience.
- Experience within defense, aerospace, military, ordnance, munitions, or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, or other aerospace/defense quality systems.
- Experience with build-to-print manufacturing and customer-driven engineering requirements.
- Familiarity with production scaling, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
