Job Title: Mechanical Technician III
Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Overtime and occasional off-hours work may be required to meet project deadlines and support installations.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician III to join our engineering project team. This role focuses on capacity additions and line installations/debug from a mechanical perspective. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical skills, hands-on installation experience, and the ability to work collaboratively across functional groups to ensure successful project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support manufacturing engineering projects for capacity installations and equipment debugging.
- Identify and resolve technical issues using root cause analysis and robust mechanical solutions.
- Support the development and execution of project plans to deliver accurate and timely installations.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues while meeting scope, timing, and cost objectives.
- Maintain safe work practices and promote a strong safety culture.
- Design and implement mechanical solutions and process improvements.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical systems (pumps, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.).
- Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems during and after installation.
- Manage spare part identification, documentation, and inventory.
- Develop and update engineering and operations documentation.
- Provide training to operations staff regarding equipment and process changes.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Technology (or related field).
- 3 years of experience with new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment (start-up experience a plus).
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyors.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems (CMMS knowledge preferred).
- Experience working in fast-paced environments with multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Hands-on experience with commercial manufacturing equipment.
- Project leadership or management experience, including milestone tracking.
- Vendor/supplier management experience (on-site and remote).
- CAD experience.
- Relevant certifications (Millwright, HVAC, Welding, OSHA, etc.) are a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Able to prioritize, multitask, and adapt quickly to changing project needs.
- Detail-oriented and capable of working with limited supervision.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel between project locations in Newton, NC and Hickory, NC may be required.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $26.00 - $29.87 per hour
