Position Overview
We are seeking a talented Landscape Designer/Architect to join our multidisciplinary design team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the planning, design, and development of exterior environments for education, residential, civic, and commercial projects. This role involves collaborating closely with architects, engineers, planners, and clients to deliver creative, functional, and sustainable site designs from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
Site Design & Planning
- Develop site layout concepts for campuses, multifamily communities, senior living environments, and civic spaces.
- Create pedestrian circulation plans, outdoor gathering areas, and amenity spaces.
- Prepare conceptual renderings, master plans, and design presentations.
Landscape & Ecological Design
- Develop planting plans, including native and adaptive species selection.
- Integrate sustainable strategies such as pollinator plantings, soil rehabilitation, and low-maintenance palettes.
- Coordinate ecological and environmental considerations into the overall site design.
Hardscape & Exterior Elements
- Design plazas, walkways, courtyards, and outdoor recreation spaces.
- Specify site furnishings, lighting, paving materials, wall systems, and related features.
- Ensure alignment with accessibility, safety, and performance standards.
Stormwater & Grading Integration
- Work with engineering teams on grading, drainage, and green-infrastructure solutions such as bioretention, rain gardens, and infiltration systems.
- Incorporate stormwater strategies into the overall landscape and site design.
Construction Documentation
- Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and technical details for bidding and construction.
- Coordinate site plans with architectural, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines.
- Review and refine construction sets to ensure accuracy and quality.
Construction Administration
- Conduct site visits to monitor installation and compliance with design intent.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, plant substitutions, and contractor RFIs.
- Provide field support and design adjustments as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
- 3–8 years of professional experience in site design, landscape architecture, or related fields (flexible depending on seniority).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software; Revit experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of site planning, planting design, grading, and stormwater concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
- LARE licensure or progress toward licensure preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Work on education, multifamily, senior living, civic, or institutional projects.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and green-infrastructure systems.
- Familiarity with New York State building, zoning, and environmental regulations (if geographically relevant).

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
