Collections Specialist

About the Role

The Collections Analyst identifies, researches, and recovers outstanding payments while keeping account records accurate and supporting audit-related work. You’ll review aging reports, prioritize collection efforts, reach out to organizations about open balances, and drive each account to timely resolution.

The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on collections experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple accounts at once. Experience in audit, payroll auditing, or related industries is a plus but not required.

What You’ll Do

• Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to prioritize collection activity
• Contact customers and organizations by phone, email, and written correspondence to resolve outstanding balances
• Manage follow-ups on established 30-, 60-, and 90-day schedules
• Research payment discrepancies, investigate account issues, and coordinate resolutions
• Track collection activity, payment commitments, and account status
• Answer incoming customer calls and route inquiries to the right departments
• Process payments and maintain accurate account documentation
• Support audit compliance by organizing documentation and working with internal teams
• Review audit findings and help identify outstanding or underpaid amounts
• Keep detailed records of collection efforts, payment activity, and account resolutions

What You’ll Bring

• Experience in collections, commercial collections, or credit and collections
• Skill at analyzing aging reports and prioritizing delinquent accounts
• Strong phone, email, and written communication skills, with a customer-service mindset
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
• A knack for researching discrepancies and resolving account issues
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with accounting or financial systems

Education: High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred)

Experience: 4 years of collections experience
