The Fresno Regional Workforce Development Board (FRWDB) is a Joint Powers Authority between the City and County of Fresno, with a business led model to help local organizations meet their workforce needs.
We are currently seeking a Resource Room Specialist to provide direct customer assistance within the Resource Room and other designated service areas of the One-Stop center. Reporting directly to the Associate Deputy Director, this role will be primarily responsible for helping unemployed and underemployed individuals access Basic Career Services by assisting them with computers, printers, job-search tools, websites, online systems, and workforce resources. The Resource Room Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for customers while supporting resource room operations and WIOA program services with professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy.
Essential Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Assist customers in the Resource Room with accessing computers, printers, websites, email, online applications, and job-search tools.
- Help unemployed and underemployed individuals identify and use the workforce tools, services, and resources needed to pursue employment and training opportunities.
- Explain available programs, services, procedures, and next steps clearly and accurately to customers.
- Provide referrals to internal workforce programs, community resources, and partner agencies, as appropriate.
- Support Basic Career Services and WIOA activities by assisting with orientations, assessments, and related service functions, as assigned.
- Monitor Resource Room activity and ensure appropriate use of equipment, resources, and facilities.
- Assist customers in a calm, respectful, and solution-oriented manner, particularly when they are frustrated, unfamiliar with technology, or experiencing stress related to unemployment or underemployment.
The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications:
- 2 years of related work experience in employment and training programs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Administration or a closely related field.
- Fluent speaking and writing in English required, bilingual abilities in Spanish preferred.
- Valid California driver's license, personal vehicle insurance, and source of reliable transportation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including English Language Learners.
- Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including grammar, spelling, and punctuation: ability to accurately proofread and edit a variety of documents.
