What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at Frederick Fox?
A growing client in the El Segundo, CA area is looking for an Assistant Controller to help scale accounting operations and lead key technical initiatives.
What you’ll do:
- Lead technical accounting areas including acquisitions (PPA), lease accounting (ASC 842), and stock-based compensation (ASC 718)
- Build accounting infrastructure—develop policies, SOPs, and close/reconciliation templates
- Oversee monthly close and consolidations; deliver clear variance analysis
- Review offshore team output across core accounts (AP, fixed assets, prepaids)
- Drive data integrity across multiple entities
- Partner with auditors and support audit readiness
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related required
- CPA/MBA preferred
- 7 years of relevant experience
- Public accounting high-growth or PE-backed environment preferred
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge (ASC 805, 842, 718)
- Proven ability to build processes in fast-paced environments
- Analytical mindset with a focus on insights, not just execution
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
