What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Information Manager position at Fourth Floor?
Our client is a long-established consumer products company and is looking for a Product Information Manager to own product master data end-to-end, including accuracy, governance, and lifecycle across every system the business runs on. This person is the single source of truth for product information and the final checkpoint before an order is released to production. Nothing reaches the factory floor without passing through them.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership seat working across internal teams, overseas factories, and outside partners to make sure products and orders are set up right the first time.
What You'll Own
Product Master Data
- Maintain product master data across PIM, ERP, PLM, retailer portals, and connected systems
- Build and maintain product records: SKU and UPC/EAN/GTIN, descriptions and specs, dimensions, weights and materials, Country of Origin and HTS classifications, costs, vendors and factory assignments, case packs and carton configurations, packaging, labeling, images, and product attributes
- Manage revisions, supersessions, and discontinuations
- Gather and validate information from Product Development, Compliance, Production, Sourcing, and Sales
- Set the standards — naming conventions, governance procedures, data hygiene
- Run routine audits so data stays accurate and in sync across systems
Order Review & Production Readiness
- Review new purchase orders for accuracy and completeness
- Validate SKUs, UPCs, pricing, quantities, case packs, packaging, labeling, Country of Origin, shipping requirements, and customer specs
- Confirm specs, testing requirements, certifications, retailer compliance, and customer instructions are complete before release
- Partner with Sales, Product Development, Production, and Compliance to clear discrepancies before production starts
- Catch problems early — before they become delays, revisions, retailer rejections, or added cost
Cross-Functional & Process
- Act as the go-to contact for product information across the full product lifecycle
- Partner with Sales, Product Development, Production, Compliance, Planning, Sourcing, Logistics, and overseas factories
- Document and standardize product information processes
- Find ways to streamline workflows and automate the repetitive work
- Support ERP, PIM, PLM, EDI, and retailer portal implementations and improvements
- Track product setup, submission status, launch readiness, and data quality
What You Bring
- 5 years in Product Information Management, Master Data Management, Item Setup, Product Operations, Production Coordination, or Supply Chain
- Deep, hands-on ERP experience is required. Our client is system-agnostic — BlueCherry, MAS 200, AS/400, NetSuite, or comparable — but you need to have genuinely lived in one. Candidates whose purchase order process has run out of spreadsheets, without real database experience, won't be a fit.
- Experience with PIM and/or PLM systems
- Strong Excel skills
- Sharp analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving instincts
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines
- A strong point of view and the confidence to hold the line on data standards across departments
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field preferred
