Fort Bend Christian Academy has an opening for a Development Associate. The Office of Advancement assists FBCA in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. The department is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of FBCA’s teaching and spiritual, academic, social and physical programs.
Fort Bend Christian Academy exists to glorify God through excellence in a college-preparatory, Christian education. It is the mission of Fort Bend Christian Academy to equip students to thrive spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically.
Under the direction of the Director of Development, the Development Associate serves an important practical role in this Christian ministry and also helps fulfill the school’s purpose by providing an example to students and parents of how a Christian person fulfils the responsibilities of this particular role and thereby teach in real life how followers of the Lord Jesus Christ live.
General Description
The Development Associate is a dual-role position responsible for the operational backbone and event execution of the Development Office. This role ensures the high-integrity management of donor data and financial records, while taking a role in some of the planning and logistical coordination of special events that support the mission.
The successful candidate will balance a high aptitude for numbers and data entry with the energy and organizational skills required to execute large-scale school events.
Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience necessary.
Experience: 1–2 years of professional experience required, specifically in data entry, accounting, or event planning.
Skills:
Systems: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and database management (Raiser’s Edge knowledge a plus).
Events: Proven ability to manage logistics, vendors, and timelines for special programs.
Job Duties
Data Operations & Accounting
Gift Processing: Record all donations (cash, check, online, pledges, matching gifts, etc.) with 100% accuracy and ensure they abide by Federal and State tax guidelines.
Financial Reconciliation: Prepare bank deposits and work closely with the Business Office to reconcile monthly deposits, reports, and external audits.
Reporting: Compile reports, year-end statements, and stakeholder participation data for the Director of Development.
Database Integrity: Maintain the Raiser’s Edge constituency database; update records regularly and ensure the filing system for receipts and correspondence is organized.
Online Giving: Build and manage donation pages for online credit card transactions (Annual Fund, Birthday Board, Booster Club, etc.) via GiveCampus and GiveSmart.
Programming & Special Events
Event Logistics: Coordinate logistics and assist the Director of Development with venue booking, catering, decor, and rentals.
Strategic Programming: Help execute special events that celebrate the FBCA community (e.g., donor appreciation dinners, campus celebrations, and fundraising galas).
On-Site Execution: Lead event set-up and break-down, ensuring that all programs run smoothly and reflect the high standards of FBCA.
Alumni Relations
Build and update alumni records for the database.
Build relationships with students through graduation, engaging recent graduates in an alumni benefit program.
Oversee and maintain alumni engagement: assist to build relationships, create and sustain traditions, communications (mailings – post / electronic, website and social media networks), and connections.
In coordination with the Director of Development collaborate with the Upper School to help foster the relationship once students graduate along side the Director of Development.
In coordination with the Director of Development create and send communication to alumni and alumni families.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to assist with event setup, which may include lifting light equipment or moving across campus for extended periods.
Occasional evening or weekend work is required for special events and programming.
Number of workdays: 219 (12 months)
