Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and administrative support, with experience in various medical settings such as dermatology, urgent care, and hospital medicine. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient service and support.
Responsibilities
- Assist in patient intake, including gathering medical history and vital signs
- Provide direct patient care, including medication administration and basic life support
- Support healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and ensure proper documentation of patient information
- Utilize medical terminology effectively for communication with patients and staff
- Perform ICD coding for billing purposes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in various settings including outpatient clinics, emergency medicine, and inpatient care
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Assist with X-ray procedures as needed, following established protocols
- Provide support in specialized areas such as geriatrics, internal medicine, PICU, OR experience, and medical-surgical units
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role is preferred
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and basic medical terminology is essential
- Familiarity with EHR systems and ability to navigate electronic documentation efficiently
- Experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent patient service
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments such as urgent care or emergency medicine settings
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required
- A proactive attitude towards learning new skills and adapting to various clinical environments
