Transportation Coordinator Job Description
Forsyth Country Day School
Duties:
- Hire and supervise bus drivers who drive on daily school bus routes;
- Track and submit driver pay information by due dates to Payroll;
- Set up bus routes and handle all parent communications and requests for service at the start of each school year;
- Handle daily scheduling of school-owned athletic buses and drivers as well as all class field trips and drivers;
- Maintain current list of substitute and field trip drivers through appropriate advertising, networking and screening of candidates;
- Keep all mechanical and safety records daily and on file for all school buses;
- Service including fueling the buses at the gas station, checking fluids and filling out daily check sheets on each bus;
- Clean interior and exterior of school buses;
- Make minor repairs to buses;
- Coordinate repair work with body shop when needed for accidents or damage;
- Report to Chief Financial and Operations Officer any accidents involving buses for insurance purposes;
- Schedule buses for repair with outside vendor and take buses to and from shop;
- Schedule all charter buses for athletic and class trips;
- Meet with all bus drivers monthly or as needed;
- Schedule of all coaches' CDLs for permits and in-bus training;
- Monitor school bus unloading area in the mornings and loading in the afternoon;
- Assist with organizing buses and overseeing parking for graduation or other events that require faculty and staff to park off campus;
- Schedule and coordinate the painting of buses;
- Liaison with school bus vendor when pricing buses for replacement.
- Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar position or in a position with similar duties;
- Must possess CDL with S and P endorsements to ensure ability to drive buses off campus for service and gassing.
Essential Functions:
- Regularly required to walk, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to sit and operate a motor vehicle or school bus.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed.
- Must be able to utilize oral and written communication skills effectively.
