What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Gardener position at Forest Park Forever Inc?
Position Overview:
Forest Park Forever is seeking seasonal gardeners to help care for and maintain over 653 acres of ornamental landscapes in Forest Park. This position reports to work Monday through Friday 7:00am – 3:30 pm from March 1 through Dec 1. We are looking for individuals that are reliable, self-motivated, and detail oriented. A successful candidate should be passionate about efficiently completing the detailed ornamental care required in Forest Park. This position provides the employee a rewarding experience of completing the critical care necessary for the park, as well as experience in diverse horticultural operations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform landscape maintenance and general maintenance tasks
- Assist with installation and maintenance of annual and perennial beds and planters
- Perform shrub planting, pruning, monitoring and maintenance.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Operate light equipment, automotive equipment, utility vehicles, power tools and hand tools
- Remove trash and debris from landscape areas
- Assist seasonal and volunteer staff to accomplish maintenance goals
- Provide support for Forest Park Forever special events
