Position Details
Title: Retail Associate, The Makery by For Now – 8 Washington Ave
Season Opening: Memorial Day – Columbus Day: 7 days/week, Columbus Day – Stroll: Th-Sun
Schedule: Varies, general structure of 3-4 days/week for 6–8-hour shifts
Compensation: Starts at $20/hr depending on experience

Overview
The Makery by For Now is a creative retail space combining For Now’s customization activations like embroidery, engraving, patches and more with craft-minded retail. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys crafting and DIY-ing, hands-on retail, creative environments, and meaningful customer interaction.
Associates at The Makery act as hosts, crafters, and problem-solvers—helping customers discover products, understand customization options, and navigate a retail space with confidence and warmth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cashwrap (Point-of-Sale & Customer Service)
- Manage transactions efficiently at the register, ensuring a smooth checkout experience.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting with returns, exchanges, and inquiries.
- Keep the cashwrap area clean, organized, and well stocked.
- Maintain the flow of product from the cashwrap to its proper location, and own the distribution of frontstock inventory and relevant supplies.
2. Customization Floor (Customer Engagement & Merchandising)
- Greet and assist customers, offer product recommendations and customization advice, as well as introduce customers to the For Now brand and our partners.
- Keep the floor organized, restocked, and visually appealing.
- Retrieve sizes from backstock as needed and maintain overall store cleanliness
- Support prep, intake or steps of Makery projects (with special training)
- Answer common questions about customization activities
3. Stock & Fulfillment (Inventory, Online Orders & Organization)
- Receive, unpack, and process new inventory.
- Fulfill and pack online orders efficiently and accurately.
- Replenish floor inventory from backstock as needed.
- Keep the storage area organized, labeled, and easy to navigate.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and events as needed
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet for extended periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs and carry boxes up and down stairs as needed
