Senior R&D Engineer
Location: Central California
Compensation: $102K–$120K base
Status: Full-Time | Exempt
Overview
Engineering/manufacturing organization seeking a Senior R&D Engineer with strong pump or rotating equipment experience. This role leads product development, testing, and engineering analysis with a focus on improving performance and reliability of pump systems and related fluid-handling equipment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with pump design, hydraulics, performance testing, or troubleshooting pump-based systems in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D and product development for pump and fluid-handling systems
- Perform engineering analysis (FEA/CFD) supporting pump performance and design improvements
- Develop and execute test plans, validation studies, and DOE for pump systems
- Conduct root cause analysis on pump performance, failures, or field issues
- Support prototype builds, testing, and data collection for rotating equipment
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams
- Produce CAD updates, engineering documentation, and technical reports
- Mentor junior engineers on pump design and analysis methods
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5 years of experience in R&D or product development
- Direct experience with pumps, hydraulics, or rotating equipment strongly required
- Experience with FEA/CFD, testing, and structured problem-solving
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- PE license
- Lean Six Sigma certification
Salary : $102,000 - $120,000
