Florida A&M University's Office of Communications is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Information/Media Services (Social Media Specialist) vacancy.
Responsibilities
The Social Media Specialist will assist with execution and management of daily social media content, including digital storytelling for all University social media platforms. Responsible for conveying branding, news and public affairs information, and marketing for the University; Responsible for the reporting or production of news, public affairs, and sports information that increases the University Brand; Publicize and inform the general public, interest groups, and alumni of the University's activities and accomplishments; and may write, produce and deliver information content on a variety of media.
Responsibilities include editing, production, scheduling, and writing web content, press releases, magazine articles, reports, and other written materials as assigned; Coordinate live and post-event coverage for University activities; Manage error-free postings on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, YouTube, and other social media accounts; Conduct social listening and follow-up with consumers and stakeholders; Create and execute content calendars for social media campaigns on all social media platforms in conjunction with internal PR and the University departments, colleges and schools; and develop and execute strategic social media campaigns that support student recruitment and enrollment by promoting the FAMU brand, academic programs, campus life, admissions events and student success stories while engaging prospective students and their families across digital platforms.
Research stories, conduct interviews, write and edit articles for publication or distribution; Provide content management and assist in the implementation and maintenance of social events, message development and, community engagement on behalf of the University's brand. (Create, edit, and produce high-quality written, video content, provide links to e-Newsletters).
Create original graphics, motion graphics, and visual assets for digital and print use; Monitor and track all customer feedback in digital environments and support internal and external teams; Capable of identifying any items of concern and elevating the content in a timely manner for appropriate management and response; Plan, prepare, and disseminate news releases, fliers, newsletters, and brochures; and conduct research, maintains contacts, provides electronic resources to maintain relevancy in this area.
Assist with developing content for websites, and other online sources as directed; Implements and enforces communications and social media policies; Maintain University brand guidelines to guide, support and review social requests from campus partners; Maintain and update the university's social media guidelines to reflect emerging digital trends, platform best practices and evolving brand standards; Monitor social media trends, analytics and engagement metrics to optimize performance; and assume other tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, graphic design or a related field and two years of experience in social media management; or master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.
Recommended Competencies
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, InDesign) and video editing tools such as Capcut;
Proficient in Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, YouTube, and other social media accounts;
Knowledge of current social media trends, topics, and best practices;
Ability to identify and engage key social media influencers relevant to the brand;
Understands how to develop and drive shareable content (video, images, graphics), views on social media accounts;
Must have intimate knowledge and ability in social media apps, video editing and photo editing software;
Excellent written and oral presentation skills, as well as adherence to AP Style, Chicago Manual Style, and the University's Style Guide;
Ability to use sound judgment, political sensitivity, strong collaborative instincts, organizational skills, and a good work ethic;
Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work with small groups;
Collaborate with internal learns to develop new digital content, including email campaigns; and,
Ideal candidate has experience managing successful recruitment campaigns.
Pay Plan
This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education. An official college transcript, a high school diploma, or other educational documents must be submitted, where applicable, at the time of employment.
