Flexicrew Technical Services is hiring a Dock Manager/Superintendent for a direct-hire opportunity with a confidential client in New Orleans. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing dock operations, crews, and project scheduling in a busy industrial environment.
The client is open to both experienced leaders and junior candidates with Project Management backgrounds — and you do NOT need marine experience to be considered. Candidates from heavy industrial, construction, or field operations backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
Essential Duties:
• Plan, schedule, and oversee all vessel repair activities at assigned docks.
• Coordinate labor, equipment, and subcontractors to meet project timelines.
• Monitor job progress and adjust schedules to optimize dock utilization.
• Serve as primary point of contact for customers, project managers, and internal teams.
• Oversee maintenance, inspection, and repair of dock equipment, ensuring operational readiness and compliance.
• Supervise dock crews, including foremen, operators, and laborers, ensuring proper training, certifications, and adherence to safety procedures.
• Enforce all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, conducting regular safety meetings and audits.
• Track job costs, labor hours, and equipment utilization, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Support estimating, change orders, and ensure accurate reporting of work performed.
Requirements/Skills:
• 5–10 years of experience in marine repair, shipyard operations, or heavy industrial environments OR 2–3 years considered for lower-level candidates with a back ground in Project Management.
• Proven experience managing dockside or field operations and supervising skilled labor.
• Strong knowledge of marine equipment, repair processes, and logistics.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Primarily dockside and outdoor work in a marine industrial setting.
• Ability to perform hands-on supervision and administrative duties.
• Flexibility to support night/weekend operations as needed.
