Accounts Payable Specialist

Fit Recruiting is partnering with a well-established company in Mobile, Alabama, to hire an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join its accounting team. This position will take ownership of the company’s accounts payable function while also supporting additional accounting, reporting, and administrative responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys owning the AP process while gaining exposure to other areas of the accounting function.

Salary is in the $60K–$70K range, depending on experience, plus company perks and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable process, including reviewing, coding, and processing vendor and subcontractor invoices
• Prepare and manage weekly check runs and ensure payments are processed accurately and on schedule
• Maintain vendor records and assist with resolving invoice discrepancies and payment questions
• Manage the company’s corporate credit card programs, including receipt collection, expense coding, reconciliation, and documentation
• Assist with business licenses, property tax filings, and annual report filings
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
• Assist with account reconciliations and other month-end accounting activities as needed
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Work closely with internal departments and outside vendors to resolve accounting-related questions
• Support the accounting team with special projects and additional accounting or operational responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
• Previous accounts payable or related accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and processes
• Experience working with accounting or ERP software
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with vendors and internal teams
• Dependable, proactive, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who enjoys the detail and organization involved in accounts payable but is also willing to step outside of AP and assist with other accounting functions. This person should be dependable, accurate, comfortable managing a high volume of information, and able to take ownership of responsibilities with minimal supervision.
