firstPRO is seeking a Network Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise network environment spanning cloud, on-premise, and remote infrastructure. The immediate focus of this position will be Microsoft Azure networking and Zscaler, with opportunities to support additional technologies across the broader network environment.
This is a hands-on, mid-level engineering role for someone who can independently troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, execute network changes, and contribute to infrastructure projects. The Network Engineer will work closely with security, systems, endpoint, application, and support teams to maintain reliable and secure connectivity across the organization.
Responsibilities

- Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft Azure networking, including VNets, subnets, routing, NSGs, VPNs, Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, and Azure Firewall.
- Support hybrid connectivity between cloud and traditional data center/network environments.
- Assist with cloud network expansion, resiliency, disaster recovery, and modernization initiatives.
- Administer and troubleshoot Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA).
- Support Zscaler configurations related to secure internet traffic, application access, policies, traffic forwarding, and authentication.
- Troubleshoot Zscaler Client Connector and resolve user connectivity and application-access issues.
- Monitor network availability, connectivity, and performance across Azure and secure-access environments.
- Diagnose complex issues involving routing, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, WAN connectivity, internet access, and cloud networking.
- Plan and implement production network changes using established change-control processes.
- Support network upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, security remediation, and infrastructure expansion projects.
- Take ownership of assigned technical implementations and coordinate activities with internal teams, vendors, carriers, and service providers.
- Partner with Security, Server, Endpoint, Application, Service Desk, and other technology teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
- Participate in incident response, outage resolution, root-cause analysis, and ongoing problem management.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, IP documentation, configuration standards, technical procedures, and support documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve network reliability, security, performance, and automation.
- Provide technical escalation support for junior network engineering and operational support teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical network infrastructure issues.
- Provide additional support across Cisco routing and switching, firewalls, Meraki, WAN technologies, and other enterprise network platforms as needed.
Requirements
- Professional experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in a hands-on engineering capacity.
- Strong understanding of core networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, NAT, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure networking and/or Zscaler technologies in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Azure networking services such as Virtual Networks, NSGs, route tables, VPN connectivity, ExpressRoute, Virtual WAN, and Azure Firewall.
- Experience supporting Zscaler ZIA and/or ZPA, or comparable secure-access/SASE technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud, on-premise, WAN, VPN, and internet-connected environments.
- Experience planning and implementing network changes within production environments.
- Working knowledge of Cisco routing and switching, firewalls, and Meraki.
- Ability to independently investigate complex network issues, determine root cause, and drive problems through resolution.
- Experience coordinating technical work across internal IT teams, vendors, carriers, and third-party service providers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on clear technical documentation.
- Ability to balance operational support responsibilities with multiple infrastructure projects and priorities.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative network engineering team.
- Exposure to PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, Infrastructure as Code, or network automation is a plus.
- Microsoft Azure, Zscaler, Cisco, or related networking certifications are a plus.
- Ability to work onsite approximately 1–2 days per week.
Ideal Background
This position is best suited for a mid-level Network Engineer who is already comfortable independently troubleshooting and implementing enterprise network technologies. Azure networking and Zscaler will be the initial areas of emphasis, but the engineer should be comfortable working across a diverse network environment as priorities and projects evolve.
