Position Summary:
This role is a dynamic and organized administrative medical professional to schedule surgeries and provide direct communication and support to our patients. The Surgery Scheduler works closely with our physicians to ensure the most efficient and highest level of exceptional quality care. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment where your contributions directly impact patient care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians with scheduling surgeries and procedures.
- Serves as primary contact for patient calls, answering patient questions, explaining procedures and communicating pre-op instructions.
- Coordinates all surgeries scheduled with hospitals and surgical centers.
- Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical law and ethics.
- Schedules in office procedures.
- Monitors physician vacation schedules.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous surgery scheduling experience.
- Knowledge of insurance and benefits.
- Experience in medical office scheduling.
- Experience in urological/medical treatments and procedures a plus.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and remain organized.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using data entry, PC skills and advanced software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher a plus.
