Position Summary:

The Clinical Training Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized clinical training programs for all medical assistants and clinical support staff across multiple office locations. This position ensures consistency in patient care processes, competency validation, sterilization practices, regulatory compliance, and equipment maintenance throughout the organization. The Clinical Training Supervisor serves as an educator, coach, and clinical resource to promote excellence, patient safety, and operational efficiency within the urology practice.

 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Education and Training

  • Develop and implement orientation programs for newly hired clinical staff.
  • Provide ongoing education and competency-based training for Medical Assistants and other clinical support personnel.
  • Standardize clinical workflows and best practices across all office locations.
  • Teach the legal hierarchy of delegation; ensure that all training curricula instruct MAs never to perform a clinical task without a direct, documented order from a licensed provider.
  • Conduct hands-on training in:
  • Patient rooming processes
  • Vital signs and documentation
  • Medication administration
  • Injections
  • Specimen collection and processing
  • Catheterization techniques
  • Cystoscopy preparation and turnover
  • Urodynamic testing preparation
  • Bladder instillation procedures
  • Sterile technique
  • Instrument processing

 

Competency Validation

  • Develop legally compliant competency checklists for all clinical roles.
  • Perform annual competency assessments and skill validations.
  • Monitor completion of required competencies and remediation plans.
  • Maintain records of training, certifications, and competency evaluations.
  • Identify performance gaps and provide individualized coaching.

 

Sterilization and Regulatory Compliance

  • Audit sterilization and high-level disinfection processes.
  • Ensure autoclave logs are completed accurately and maintained appropriately.
  • Verify biological indicators and sterilization solutions are monitored according to policy.
  • Conduct routine inspections of instrument reprocessing areas.
  • Collaborate with our OSHA officer to educate staff regarding OSHA, infection prevention, and safety standards. 
  • Participate in regulatory preparedness activities.

 

 

Equipment Oversight

  • Monitor clinical equipment to ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
  • Verify calibration schedules are maintained.
  • Educate staff regarding proper equipment handling and care.
  • Identify equipment concerns and coordinate corrective action.
  • Assist with implementation and training of new technologies and equipment.

 

Quality Improvement

  • Conduct routine site visits to assess adherence to established workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient safety, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with office managers and leadership to implement process improvements.
  • Track and report training outcomes and compliance metrics.
  • Assist with the development and revision of clinical policies and procedures.

 

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Serve as a clinical resource for office managers and providers.
  • Support leaders in addressing clinical performance concerns.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in committees related to clinical quality and safety initiatives.
  • Assist with change management during implementation of new initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

Required

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), LPN, or RN. and/or a minimum of five years of clinical experience in a physician's office setting.
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization practices.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to travel between practice locations.

Preferred

  • Two years of training, precepting, leadership, or mentoring experience.
  • Previous urology experience.
  • Experience in multi-site physician practice.
  • Experience developing educational materials and competency programs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and accreditation requirements.

The Clinical Training Supervisor will be successful when:

  • Clinical workflows are standardized across all locations.
  • New hires achieve competency within established timeframes.
  • Annual competencies are completed on schedule.
  • Sterilization audits demonstrate high compliance rates.
  • Equipment logs and calibration records remain current.
  • Clinical errors and process variation decrease.
  • Staff report increased confidence and preparedness in their roles.
