Position Summary:
The Scrub Technician is to support urologic surgical procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment. Scrub Tech is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting surgeons and surgical teams before, during, and after procedures to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
This role requires strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, aseptic technique, and procedural workflow specific to urologic surgeries. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for urologic procedures.
- Set up and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical cases.
- Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies efficiently during procedures.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments according to policy.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and room turnover between cases.
- Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens.
- Maintain compliance with infection control standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of surgical supplies.
- Document procedures and maintain accurate records as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- 1–2 years of surgical experience preferred; urology experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of sterile technique and operating room protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); associate degree or higher a plus.
