What are the responsibilities and job description for the Children Ministry Assistant position at First Presbyterian Church?
Purpose: To provide care and nurture of the children of First Presbyterian Church, Wichita during Sunday School and Worship
Hours: 10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Sundays
Pay: $20/hr
Responsibilities:
- Nursery Leadership
- Provide the main leadership within the nursery of children from birth through 5 years
- Teach age appropriate weekly lesson to children from curriculum provided by Director of Church Ministries
- Work with volunteer of the morning to insure safety of children in the nursery
- Follow protection policy procedures and nursery policies, including discipline policy and fill out incident reports if necessary.
- Attend volunteer training and appreciation events.
- Work with Director of Church Ministries
Nursery Room
- Follow posted group clean-up procedures each week.
- Clean and rotate toys as indicated by Director of Ministries. Keep nursery room shelves wiped off and remove broken toys.
- Communicate with Director of Ministries as to needs in the nursery room.
Other
- Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Maintain a current background check.
- Other responsibilities as agreed upon by the Director of Ministries, Head of Staff, and Personnel Committee
- If you are ill and unable to work, let Director of Ministries by 8:00 a.m.
Accountability:
The Children’s Ministry Assistant is accountable to the Session through the Personnel Committee and to the Director of Ministries (as direct supervisor).
Relationships:
The Children’s Ministry Assistant will maintain relationships with the families of the congregation and nursery volunteers.
Evaluation:
An annual performance review is conducted by the supervisor (Director of Ministries) and a member(s) of the Personnel Committee.
