Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the church’s mission
- Oversee and implement all communications platforms and efforts, including website, social media, streaming, email, print publications, mail, and in-person events
- Create compelling content that highlights ministry impact and community transformation
- Support pastors and ministry leaders with messaging and communication planning
Community Development & Outreach
- Work with Church Staff to nurture strong relationships with local nonprofits, community organizations, and civic leaders
- Identify and develop new opportunities for communication partners in the Fort Smith community
- Serve as a visible ambassador of the church in the broader community
Mission & Ministry Engagement
- Work alongside the program staff to augment the promotion of and participation in church ministries and outreach programs
- Collaborate with Church Staff and volunteers to communicate key initiatives
- Regularly attend worship and other church events in order to develop a sufficient pipeline of church members and volunteers who are passionate about continuing the work and legacy of First Presbyterian Church, matching gifts with needs
Stewardship & Development Support
- Work with Church Staff and relevant committees to develop stewardship campaigns, as well as other campaigns as needed
- Tell clear, compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of generosity
- Use expertise to provide clear and meaningful growth to fundraising and engagement initiatives
Congregational Connection
- Strengthen internal communication to keep members informed and engaged
- Help connect visitors and new members to the life of the church
- Promote worship, discipleship, and service opportunities
Digital Media & Innovation
- Expand the church’s digital presence and online engagement
- Utilize video, photography, and digital storytelling to enhance communication
- Monitor analytics and adjust strategies for greater impact
Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and build relationships
- Experience with digital media, branding, and content creation
Preferred
- Experience in a church or faith-based organization
- 5 years or more in communications, public relations, nonprofit leadership, or a related field
- Background in fundraising, development, or donor engagement
- Public speaking and media experience
