LNG Operations Supervisor – Commissioning & Startup
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced LNG Operations Supervisor to support the commissioning, startup, and initial operations of a new LNG export facility. This role will provide operational leadership during the transition from construction completion through safe and reliable LNG production.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating LNG facilities, supporting commissioning and startup activities, and working with APCI C3MR liquefaction technology or similar LNG processes. This is a critical leadership role responsible for developing operational readiness, leading shift teams, and establishing a strong safety and performance culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead LNG operations activities during commissioning, startup, and initial production, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and technical direction to Operations Shift Teams while ensuring personnel training, competency, and operational readiness.
- Take ownership of startup, shutdown, and continuous operation activities across liquefaction, gas treatment, utilities, LNG storage, and loading systems.
- Serve as the primary on-shift operational decision-maker, troubleshooting process issues, managing abnormal conditions, and supporting emergency response activities.
- Coordinate closely with Commissioning, Construction, Engineering, Maintenance, Automation, HSE, and vendor teams to achieve startup milestones and resolve operational challenges.
- Monitor and optimize plant performance through DCS systems and field operations while maintaining safe operating limits and process requirements.
- Support CSU activities including equipment turnover, system walkdowns, startup testing, operational readiness reviews, and procedure validation.
- Maintain strong process safety discipline by enforcing operating procedures, Permit to Work systems, risk assessments, and safety standards.
- Analyze operating data, identify improvement opportunities, troubleshoot plant issues, and drive continuous operational excellence.
- Support development of operating procedures, training programs, shift documentation, and long-term operational practices for the LNG facility.
Preferred Qualification
- 5 years of LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or complex process facility operations experience.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience within an LNG facility or large-scale industrial operation.
- Hands-on experience with LNG liquefaction processes, preferably APCI C3MR technology.
- Experience supporting LNG commissioning, startup, and transition into commercial operations.
- Strong knowledge of process safety, DCS operations, troubleshooting, and operational discipline.
- Ability to make critical operational decisions in high-pressure startup environments.
- Greenfield LNG startup experience.
- Experience working with EPC contractors, technology licensors, and equipment vendors.
