About the Program
The program was founded on the belief that children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders can live full and productive lives as integrated members of the community. Recognizing that each child has unique strengths and challenges, the school uses a multidisciplinary approach rather than relying on one strict modality.
The model is built on a strong foundation in Applied Behavior Analysis — ABA and integrates speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, behavioral skills, and social skills training. This collaborative approach supports effective educational and behavioral interventions designed to help each student progress toward less restrictive educational and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide speech and language therapy services to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- Conduct evaluations, develop treatment plans, and implement individualized therapy goals.
- Support students with receptive language, expressive language, social communication, and functional communication skills.
- Collaborate with ABA therapists, occupational therapists, music therapists, teachers, supervisors, and families.
- Utilize therapy approaches such as AAC, PECS, play-based therapy, oral sensory-motor strategies, and feeding support when applicable.
- Participate in team meetings, progress reviews, and treatment planning.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and therapy records.
- Help students build communication skills that support independence, learning, and community integration.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field.
- Active or eligible state SLP license.
- CCC-SLP preferred.
- Strong CFY candidates will also be considered.
- Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder preferred.
- Knowledge of ABA, behavioral strategies, play therapy, and autism treatment approaches is a plus.
- Experience with AAC, PECS, oral sensory-motor therapy, and/or feeding therapy preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, documentation, and family engagement skills.
