What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Treasury position at Finatal?
About the Company
A high-growth, PE-backed infrastructure and professional services platform operating across North America. The business is in an active phase of operational maturation, having recently undergone significant M&A activity and a recapitalization. The finance function is being built out to match the company's scale and ambitions, and this role is a greenfield opportunity to establish a best-in-class Treasury function from the ground up.
The Role
The Director of Treasury will report directly to the CFO and serve as the company's first dedicated Treasury leader. This individual will design, build, and own the Treasury function, with responsibility spanning cash management, liquidity forecasting, banking relationships, and cross-border cash operations across the U.S. and Canada. The role will also interface with a small collections function that may ultimately roll up into Treasury, requiring an individual comfortable operating in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build out the Treasury function from the ground up, establishing policies, processes, and systems that enable scalable, automated cash management across the enterprise
- Manage daily cash positioning and multi-entity cash flow forecasting, including cross-border flows between the U.S. and Canadian operations
- Oversee and optimize the company's banking relationships, including a primary U.S. relationship with the PE sponsor's preferred banking partner and a single Canadian banking relationship
- Manage working capital dynamics, including the cash flow implications of a significant sub-consultant spend base (approximately 30% of revenue), with particular attention to payment timing and collections exposure
- Support collections operations and evaluate the appropriate organizational structure for integrating a small government-focused collections team into the Treasury function
- Prepare and present cash flow analyses, liquidity reports, and Treasury updates to the CFO, executive leadership team, and board
- Drive automation across cash reporting, forecasting, and reconciliation processes, reducing reliance on manual workflows
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, and Operations to align on cash flow assumptions and working capital performance
- Support strategic planning processes with scenario-based cash flow modeling tied to contract awards, project timelines, and capital deployment needs
What We're Looking For
- 8 years of progressive Treasury or corporate finance experience, with demonstrated ownership of cash management and liquidity functions
- Experience building or significantly scaling a Treasury function at a PE-backed company strongly preferred
- Comfort managing multi-entity, cross-border cash operations (U.S./Canada at minimum)
- Strong banking relationship management skills; ability to negotiate, communicate, and serve as the company's primary point of contact with financial institutions
- Highly data-driven with a bias toward automation and process improvement; experience implementing Treasury Management Systems (TMS) or cash reporting platforms a plus
- Exceptional communication skills; must be capable of presenting clearly and confidently to senior leadership and board members
- No industry requirement; candidates from any sector with relevant Treasury ownership experience will be considered
- Experience working with government agency clients or collections in a professional services context is a plus
