Job Summary
We are seeking an Accounts Receivable–focused Accounting Associate who is confident working independently and enjoys communicating with customers daily. This role is responsible for applying payments, sending invoices and statements, and following up consistently to resolve short payments and account discrepancies.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and professionally persistent, with a strong ability to stay on top of deadlines and maintain accurate financial records.
What You’ll Do
- Reach out to customers daily via phone and email to follow up on open invoices and payment status
- Apply payments daily, including checks, EFT/ACH, and other remittances, accurately and on time
- Investigate short payments, including pricing issues, deductions, returns, and internal data entry errors
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and close outstanding balances
- Prepare and send invoices, statements, and billing documents according to schedule
- Maintain clear and accurate notes and documentation on account activity and customer communications
- Assist with accounts receivable reconciliations, special projects, month-end close, and other accounting tasks as needed
✅ Experience: 1–3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, collections, or accounting support
✅ Customer Communication: Comfortable making frequent outbound calls and following up professionally
✅ Independence: Self-starter who can prioritize tasks, manage daily workload, and meet deadlines
✅ Detail-Oriented: Strong accuracy with payments, invoices, and account balances
✅ Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to investigate discrepancies and short payments and drive them to resolution
✅ Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks or NetSuite a plus)
✅ Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or equivalent experience
