At this level, you aren't just teaching literature; you are teaching students how to navigate, analyze, and contribute to a complex global conversation.

As part of the Ferguson-Florissant "New Chapter," you will be joining a team that prioritizes equity and innovation. Whether you are leading a seminar on diverse modern classics or coaching students through the high-stakes world of college essays and professional rhetoric, you will be the guide for their final steps into adulthood. If you’re ready to inspire the leaders of tomorrow, your next chapter starts here.

Role Summary

As a High School English Teacher, you will lead a classroom within one of our high school buildings (Grades 9-12). You will facilitate a rigorous, student-centered environment that focuses on complex literary analysis, evidence-based writing, and oral communication. Working collaboratively with your PLC, you will design learning experiences that prepare students for post-secondary success, fostering both academic excellence and social-emotional growth.

Your Impact (Key Duties)

  • Elevate Literacy: Design and deliver lessons that challenge students to analyze complex texts across genres, time periods, and cultures.

  • Refine the Voice: Guide students through advanced writing processes, helping them master everything from creative expression to persuasive academic arguments.

  • Collaborate: Partner with your departmental PLC to analyze student data and refine instructional strategies that close the achievement gap.

  • Utilize Resources: Leverage our district’s unique assets, including our STEAM pathways, to explore the intersection of technology and the humanities.

  • Foster Belonging: Maintain an inclusive classroom culture where every student feels empowered to share their truth and respect the truths of others.
