UCF IT is the central information technology organization at the University of Central Florida, providing technology services and support to faculty, staff, and students. Reporting to the Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, UCF IT comprises several key departments, including Infrastructure & Operations, Telecommunications, Enterprise Application Development, Information Security, Instructional Resources, and Client Services. UCF IT collaborates with university stakeholders through governance frameworks and advisory committees to ensure alignment with UCF’s strategic goals. The Opportunity
The University IT Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire two IT Project Manager II positions to lead and manage a variety of complex enterprise technology projects from initiation through implementation. This role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, maintaining project documentation, mitigating risks, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with institutional goals. This role will also support Agile projects, perhaps serve as a Scrum Master, and advise other teams developing an agile methodology. The role will also serve projects related to Information Security, but not limited to just those project types. The IT Project Manager II also plays a key role in strategic planning and daily operations of the Project Management Office (PMO).
Responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
Preferred Qualifications
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,809 to $88,000. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities
- Lead cross functional project teams to deliver defined project scopes within established timelines and budgets.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
- Assemble and guide project teams by assigning responsibilities and securing necessary resources.
- Acts as a Scrum Master for a defined team that is working using an Agile methodology.
- Advise and provide guidance for other teams adopting Agile methodology to manage their work/projects.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, and work breakdown structures.
- Assemble and guide project teams by assigning responsibilities and securing necessary resources.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and thorough documentation throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Support daily operations and continuous improvement of the PMO.
- Serve as the primary liaison among stakeholders—including senior leadership, business units, and technical teams.
- Present project updates, risk assessments, and status reports to executive leadership and other key stakeholders.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; escalate issues as needed to ensure project success.
- Monitor project budgets and capital procurement to ensure alignment with funding and compliance requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee contract deliverables, in coordination with procurement and legal teams.

Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in project management, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from PMI.
- Previous experience supporting Agile projects, like acting a Scum Master for a defined team OR experience managing comprehensive project plans related to Information Security/Cybersecurity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience managing complex IT or enterprise-level projects.
- Prior project management and leadership experience using persuasion and influence skills, particularly in a non-direct reporting structure.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder engagement in a technical or enterprise environment.
- Proven ability to develop and manage project documentation, budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation plans.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar platforms.
- Experience working in higher education, healthcare, or other large, decentralized organizational environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
