Responsibilities:
- Draft, prepare, file, and serve legal documents including complaints, answers, writs, notices, subpoenas, motions, contracts, resolutions, and ordinances.
- Perform legal research using statutes, case law, and computerized research tools.
- Compile, analyze, and organize data from investigative reports, depositions, discovery, and other sources.
- Interview clients, witnesses, and other key contacts.
- Prepare case files for trial or hearing, including assembling documentary exhibits and evidence.
- Maintain filing systems, calendars, and court schedules.
- Draft correspondence and explanatory memoranda related to legal matters.
- Support attorneys by handling time-sensitive tasks that can be delegated to non-licensed staff.
- Perform related legal support duties as assigned.
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program.
- Completion of a paralegal program or degree with at least 24 semester units in law-related courses from an accredited institution.
- A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in any subject plus at least 1 year of law-related experience under a supervising attorney (with a written declaration of qualification).
- A high school diploma (or GED) plus at least 3 years of law-related experience under a supervising attorney (with a written declaration of qualification).
- Based in or near Sacramento, with the ability to attend occasional in-person meetings
