About the Role
A respected defense litigation firm is seeking an experienced Coverage Attorney to join its Buffalo office. This role focuses on insurance coverage analysis and related litigation across a range of policy types and complex disputes. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting policy language, analyzing coverage positions, and litigating declaratory judgment actions involving insurers and insureds.

Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret insurance policies and provide detailed coverage opinions
- Handle litigation involving insurance coverage disputes from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, coverage position letters, and legal memoranda
- Conduct depositions, court appearances, and mediations related to coverage matters
- Advise clients on risk exposure and coverage strategy
- Maintain accurate time records and meet the 1,850 annual billable hour requirement
- Collaborate with firm leadership on case strategy and client communications
Core Areas of Coverage Experience
Candidates should have experience working with and litigating issues related to:
- First-party property and homeowners policies
- Commercial general liability (CGL) policies
- Directors & Officers (D&O) policies
- Environmental and pollution liability policies
- Construction defect and builders risk policies
- Application of policy exclusions in litigated coverage disputes
- "Other insurance” and priority of coverage issues
- Scope and interpretation of additional insured provisions
Preferred (Not Required) Experience
- Commercial litigation background
- Labor law defense experience
- Construction defect or construction damage litigation
Growth & Business Development Support
- In-house Director of Marketing dedicated to helping attorneys build and grow their books of business
- Opportunities to develop client relationships and referral networks
- Annual performance reviews with opportunities for raises and advancement

Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice in New York (or ability to obtain admission)
- Experience in insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation
- Experience litigating coverage disputes or declaratory judgment actions
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
