Description

The Hopper Filler Tends to the Hoppers Located Behind Each Extrusion Line

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

• Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other FEC employees.
• Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform basic algebra in basic units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to Calculate Weight Measurement, Volume, and Distance. Ability to Utilize Ratios and Percentages.
• Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply commonsense and the understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Fills hoppers behind extruders using floor jacks, shovels, lifting bags, and other equipment.
• Reviews machine schedules and determine compounds to be staged.
• Maintains correct compound mixes.
• Cleans out hoppers between compound changes.
• Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning or oiling.
• Moves compound to and from storage area with forklift.
• Keeps compounds in storage area consolidated and neat.
• Assists extruder operators in machine set-up.
