The Box Maker Fabricates Cartons and Boxes from Corrugated Paperboard Materials as well as Inventories These Items and Other Materials on a Continual Basis
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other FEC employees.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform basic algebra in basic units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply commonsense and the understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Measures and marks outline of carton on paperboard sheet.
- Cuts sheets along markings to form carton blanks.
- Forms blanks or paperboard sheets into cartons by folding and stapling edges together.
- Assembles and fits slotted pieces together to form partitions for cartons.
- Counts specified number of different types of cartons to be made for product shipment.
- Operates forklift or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist cardboard form storage areas to box making area.
- Completes a bi-weekly inventory in which all extra materials and magnet in plant is identified and quantified.
