An Operator is Responsible for the Operation of a Plastics Extrusion Line, Including All Downstream and Auxiliary Equipment
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other FEC employees.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform basic algebra in basic units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to utilize measuring devices, such as a measuring tape and digital calipers.
- Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Read product specifications to determine die and material requirements.
- Selects, positions, and secures dies, cutter,s and other auxiliary equipment to extruders.
- Sets up extruder and adjusts machines to meet specifications.
- Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction. Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operations. Adjusts machine operation as needed.
- Stacks, marks and packs finished goods for transport.
- Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning or oiling machines, dies or work pieces.
- Assists other machine operators to set up machines and pack finished goods.
- Maintains satisfactory attendance.
- Works overtime as needed. Works various shifts.
- Maintains a neat and safe work environment.
