Swiss CNC Lathe Cell Operator & Setup Specialist

Picture starting your shift in a Swiss turning cell, spinning up multiple machines, verifying a new setup, and watching parts come off the line to spec. You keep an eye on each Swiss lathe, make smart adjustments, and switch between Kanban pulls and line stock requests to keep production flowing. You measure, chart, tweak, and ship — all in a rhythm that rewards craft and consistency.

1st, 2nd, and weekend shifts available

$20–$35 per hour, based on experience

• Run multiple machines at once — primarily Swiss lathes — monitoring performance and making in-process adjustments to hold print.
• Receive and manage production orders via Kanban and line stock; prioritize work to meet schedule requirements.
• Set up and operate machines within the cell, confirming correct tooling, offsets, and programs before first-article release.
• Use precision inspection tools to verify dimensions and surface quality; document results to quality standards.
• Order materials and tooling needed for upcoming jobs to prevent downtime.
• Prepare and ship materials, components, and finished goods as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in a Machine Tool program, or 2 years of prior machining experience.
• At least 1 year working with shop math, blueprint reading, and measuring devices.
• Proven ability to perform machine set-ups.
• Competence with SPC charting, using data to adjust machines to meet print specifications.
• A collaborative, self-starting approach with clear communication skills.
• Willingness to cross-train regularly.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift and lift 50lbs continuously.
