The Machinist CNC Lathe Setup/Operator specializes in setting up and operating small to medium-sized multi-axis CNC barfeed lathes, including double turret and double spindle machines with live tooling, within a medium to high-volume production environment. This role focuses on preparing machinery from existing programs, performing tooling setups, and ensuring quality through precision inspections. The operator is also responsible for basic machine upkeep and works closely within a team, reporting to the Plant Manager
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate small to medium multi-axis CNC lathes (double turret, double spindle with live tooling)
- Perform tooling setup and adjustments for efficient production
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure precision and adherence to specs
- Read and interpret blueprints to guide machining processes
- Assist engineers by collaborating on programming and setup improvements
- Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of CNC lathe equipment
- Work as part of the machining team and report to the Plant Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in CNC machining
- Technical diploma in CNC machining or related field
- Proficient in CNC lathe operation and machine setup
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Skilled in precision measurement and tooling knowledge
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and adherence to safety procedures
