Technical Systems Engineering Manager

A growing defense technology company is seeking a hands-on Technical Systems Engineering Manager to support the integration, testing, troubleshooting, and successful deployment of advanced hardware/software systems.
This is a highly visible opportunity for someone who enjoys being close to the product—not just managing requirements from a distance. You will work across engineering, operations, training, and customer stakeholders to ensure systems are integrated, tested, documented, and ready for real-world use.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and support technical system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and customer deployment activities
- Act as a key technical bridge between U.S. customers and an R&D/engineering team
- Diagnose system issues, drive root-cause analysis, and help move solutions through resolution
- Support product validation, technical documentation, training, and continuous-improvement efforts
- Coordinate across hardware, software, systems, operations, and customer teams
- Help build scalable technical processes as the organization continues to grow
What we’re looking for:
- 5 years of systems engineering experience
- Hands-on experience with system integration, test, validation, troubleshooting, and technical documentation
- Defense, aerospace, weapons, sensors, electro-optics, RF, radar, robotics, or other complex hardware/software systems experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, build-from-scratch environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers, technical teams, and senior stakeholders
- U.S. citizenship required; an active security clearance is a plus
- Ability to work onsite in Herndon, VA five days per week and travel approximately 20%, including occasional international travel
