We are hiring a Director of Construction who will be based in our Arlington, Virginia headquarters. In this role you will be focused on hands-on execution, contractor coordination, and field delivery, with exposure to strategic construction planning.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
The Director of Construction is anticipated to have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Oversees all day-to-day operations and strategic direction of large, utility scale solar construction programs as well as lead a team of high performing professionals
- Significantly contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures
- Establishes and maintains supply chain relationships
- Leads, manages, develops staff, across multiple utility scale solar construction projects
- Provides guidance and project leadership ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectations
- Directs external vendors per project comprising General Contractors, A&E design teams,
- commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
- Strategic Planning: Setting the strategic direction for construction projects and ensuring alignment with the company's overall goals
- Project Management: Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
- Team Leadership: Leading and developing a team of construction professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Financial Oversight: Managing the financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with construction projects.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring that construction projects meet all quality standards and comply with relevant regulations
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and government agencies
- Continuous Improvement: Implementing processes and practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness in construction operations
- Leads in developing and executing effective contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents

- Manage all aspects of construction projects from pre-construction to project close-out
Education and Experience:
- Degree preferred; experience accepted in lieu
- 5–8 years of construction project management experience
- Utility-scale solar or large-scale commercial construction background
- PMP certification preferred, not required
Work Location, Remote Work, and Travel:
- This position will be based in the Arlington, VA. Travel may be required throughout Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region up to 25% of time
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
