Join Our Team as a Registered Dietitian
Union Plaza Care Center is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Registered Dietitian to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting resident health and wellness by ensuring high-quality nutritional care and compliance with all regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and nutritional risks
- Develop, review, and implement individualized dietary care plans using the Resident Assessment Instrument (MDS)
- Coordinate food service activities with nursing, environmental services, social services, and activities departments
- Ensure menus and therapeutic diets align with physician orders and regulatory requirements
- Supervise dietary staff to maintain quality, safety, and efficiency
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and dietary records
- Participate in state and federal surveys and implement corrective actions as needed
- Provide nutritional education to residents and families
- Ensure appropriate substitute meals of equal nutritional value are provided when needed
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold residents’ rights at all times
- Attend facility meetings and interdisciplinary committees
- Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Dietitian license in New York
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) preferred
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diet therapy
- Food service management
- Cost control and budgeting
- Nutrition best practices
- Experience with SigmaCare and GeriMenu systems preferred
- Ability to interpret food service cost reports and financial data
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Prior nursing home / SNF experience required
- Experience with therapeutic diet planning and food management
- Strong analytical skills related to cost control and operations
