Principal Software Project Engineer
We’re looking for a Principal Software Project Engineer to lead the planning and execution of complex software development programs for cutting-edge aerospace systems.
This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership and project management, owning delivery across the full software lifecycle while working closely with engineering, program teams, and stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in keeping high-impact missions on track, from development through to launch.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead software planning, scheduling, and execution across programs
- Act as the bridge between engineering and program stakeholders
- Manage backlogs, priorities, and delivery timelines
- Run standups, planning sessions, and retrospectives
- Track progress and communicate status across technical and non-technical teams
- Ensure strong execution of the software development lifecycle
- Drive continuous improvement across processes and delivery
What we’re looking for:
- 9 years experience across software engineering and project management
- Background in embedded or high-reliability systems
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile, V-model, etc.)
- Experience with tools like Jira and requirements/configuration management systems
- Ability to communicate clearly across engineering and leadership teams
- Understanding of how software integrates with hardware systems
Bonus points for:
- Experience in spacecraft or aerospace software programs
- Exposure to embedded systems development
- Background in requirements-driven engineering environments
