The HR Generalist supports the employee lifecycle for a distributed technology organization, spanning onboarding, performance processes, employee relations, compliance, and people-program operations. You will manage core HR workflows in systems such as Rippling or Workday, maintain accurate employee records, and turn people data into clear reporting for managers and leadership. The role is central to building consistent, compliant employee experiences as the organization scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage onboarding, offboarding, transfers, promotions, and employee changes across the HRIS, payroll, benefits, and IT access workflows
- Administer employee records and people processes in Rippling, Workday, or similar systems, maintaining data accuracy and audit readiness
- Partner with managers on employee relations, performance management, leave administration, and policy interpretation
- Coordinate annual and recurring programs, including performance reviews, compensation cycles, engagement surveys, and benefits enrollment
- Maintain HR policies, handbooks, and compliance documentation across federal, Washington, DC, and applicable state requirements
- Build recurring people reports and dashboards using HRIS data, spreadsheets, and tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Jira
- Improve HR operations by documenting workflows, identifying process gaps, and implementing scalable self-service resources
- 3-6 years of progressive HR generalist or people-operations experience in a technology or high-growth environment
- Working knowledge of employee relations, onboarding, performance management, leave administration, benefits, and employment compliance
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS such as Rippling, Workday, BambooHR, or UKG, plus strong Google Sheets or Excel skills
- Experience managing confidential employee information with sound judgment, discretion, and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support employees and advise managers across technical and non-technical teams
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Bonus: PHR or SHRM-CP certification; experience with Greenhouse, Lattice, Carta, remote-work compliance, or HR analytics and reporting
