The HR Generalist supports the employee lifecycle for a distributed technology organization, covering onboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance processes, and HR operations across engineering, product, sales, and customer teams.
This role keeps people programs accurate, compliant, and easy to use as the company scales. The HR Generalist will manage workflows in systems such as Workday, Rippling, Greenhouse, and Slack while turning employee data into clear operational insights for leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage onboarding and offboarding workflows across HRIS, payroll, benefits, IT provisioning, and employee records
- Administer employee lifecycle processes in Workday, Rippling, or similar HRIS platforms, maintaining accurate data and documentation
- Coordinate benefits administration, open enrollment, leave tracking, and employee questions in partnership with brokers and payroll providers
- Support performance reviews, compensation cycles, employee relations cases, and manager guidance with discretion and sound judgment
- Maintain policies, handbooks, and compliance documentation across federal, state, and local employment requirements
- Build recurring people reports and dashboards covering headcount, turnover, hiring, engagement, and workforce trends using HRIS and spreadsheet tools
- Improve HR workflows through automation, including ticketing, Slack workflows, documentation, and integrations with recruiting and finance systems
- 3-6 years of experience in HR generalist, people operations, or HR operations roles, preferably in a technology company
- Working knowledge of employee lifecycle processes, benefits administration, payroll coordination, performance management, and employment compliance
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS such as Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, or UKG, plus collaboration tools such as Slack and Google Workspace
- Strong spreadsheet and reporting skills, including Excel or Google Sheets functions, data validation, and workforce metrics
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the judgment to handle confidential employee and business information
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, organizational psychology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Bonus: Experience supporting a remote or distributed workforce; SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification; familiarity with Greenhouse, Jira, Zendesk, or HRIS integrations
