Commissioning Engineer (MEP / HVAC / Electrical) – Data Centers & Mission Critical
$90,000 – $150,000 Overtime Travel Incentives

Overview
We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer to support large-scale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects across the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full commissioning lifecycle, supporting HVAC, electrical, and building control systems from design review through testing, validation, and system handover.
This position is ideal for candidates with a background in HVAC, electrical systems, controls, or MEP construction who are looking to expand into a well-rounded commissioning role within a high-growth industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute commissioning activities for HVAC, electrical, and control systems
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and functional performance tests (FPTs)
- Perform design and commissionability reviews of drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Validate performance of systems including:
- Chillers, AHUs, and mechanical systems
- UPS, generators, and electrical distribution systems
- Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)
- Conduct site inspections and identify installation or sequencing deficiencies
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues
- Analyze system data and trends to verify performance and operational efficiency
- Maintain detailed commissioning documentation, including reports, checklists, and issue logs
- Collaborate with project teams including contractors, engineers, vendors, and clients
- Support system startup, turnover, and client training
- Participate in commissioning meetings and ensure adherence to QA/QC standards
Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, mechanical equipment)
- Electrical systems (power distribution, UPS, generators)
- Building Automation / Controls (BAS/BMS)
- Background in commissioning, field engineering, or MEP construction
- Experience with data centers or mission-critical environments preferred
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (documentation client interaction)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
- Proficiency with commissioning or construction software (e.g., CxAlloy, Bluebeam, Procore) is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%)
