Overview
The Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 2 performs professional and technical instructional support involving the use of scientific, technical, and academic knowledge, materials, and techniques. The position works with faculty in Applied Sciences (engineering, computer science, and information technology) in preparing, modifying, and developing instructional programs, teaching aids, materials, and equipment associated with shop, classroom, or laboratory instruction, requiring technical knowledge of the discipline. The Technician supports individualized or group instruction of students in Applied Sciences, assists with demonstrations and laboratory activities, maintains classroom and laboratory spaces, and manages procurement and repair of supplies and equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional & Laboratory Support
- Prepare materials and equipment for use in shop, classroom, and laboratory settings; set up assignments, equipment, and demonstration apparatus for classes
- Plan and conduct experiments and demonstrations in a formal course work setting; confer with instructors in establishing and developing assignments
- Assist instructors in presenting course material.
- With guidance from faculty, assist students in course work assignments, individualized and group instruction, and development of learning skills
- Assist students and instructors in selecting correct tools and materials
- Modify equipment, materials, and programs as required for individual instructors; edit laboratory handouts and manuals in consultation with instructors
Equipment, Safety, & Operations
- Operate and perform routine maintenance and repairs on laboratory and demonstration instruments and equipment in accordance with standardized procedures
- Instruct students, teaching assistants, and faculty in the proper use and operation of equipment
- Monitor laboratories to ensure compliance with safety policy; assist in the development of safe laboratory procedures
- Supervise students during hands-on laboratory activities, approved student club activities, and outreach activities
- Support makerspace operations including access, safety orientation, training, and equipment availability
- Conduct literature searches and assist in determining suitable methods and materials for Applied Sciences research and instructional activities
Procurement & Resource Management
- Estimate quantity and quality of supplies and materials needed for courses; maintain adequate stock levels
- Order equipment and supplies for Applied Sciences; follow through with the purchasing department on procurement of materials and supplies
- Receive, catalog, and maintain materials and supplies; coordinate with the purchasing department for timely procurement
- Prepare progress reports concerning instructional support and laboratory activities; assemble and organize data as directed by instructors
Collaboration & Coverage
- Cross-train and collaborate with other Instruction and Classroom Support Technicians within the Applied Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing area to ensure continuity of instructional support; train and oversee work study students assigned to the department
- Perform other related duties as required, prioritizing classroom and laboratory instructional support needs
General Duties
- Provide assistance during special events, outreach activities, or campus initiatives related to Applied Sciences
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations and meet the needs of the Applied Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing are of study and the college.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with major study in a specific instructional area relevant to Applied Sciences or Advanced Manufacturing (e.g., applied science, engineering technology, machining, welding, electronics, or related field); OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment, and techniques used in the relevant Applied Sciences or Advanced Manufacturing discipline(s)
- Ability to plan and conduct experiments and demonstrations, and to assist in developing and modifying instructional programs and materials
- Ability to operate, maintain, and perform routine repairs on laboratory and instructional equipment; ability to instruct others in proper and safe equipment use
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff; ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality instructional support

Terms of Employment
- Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Overtime eligible - FLSA non-exempt
- Position is subject to Everett Community College policies and procedures.
- Represented by Washington Federation of State Employees Union.
- Performance will be evaluated after a six (6) month probationary period and annually.
