What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Specialist position at etrailer?
Location: Wentzville, MO (Onsite)
At etrailer, sales is serving. We help neighbors tow, travel, camp, and get work done with confidence. When a neighbor wants local pickup, installation, or service, we connect them with a trusted dealer partner. That handoff is the product. Done well, it feels like one continuous small shop.
We are hiring a Development Specialist to grow and strengthen our dealer network. This is a relationship-driven role. You will prospect, recruit, onboard, and develop dealer partners who share our service standard. You will build momentum through consistent outreach, strong follow-up, and clear value.
What you will do
- Prospect and recruit dealer partners who align with etrailer's neighbor-first, hospitality standard
- Run outbound call and email outreach daily, build a pipeline, and follow up with discipline
- Explain the value of partnering with etrailer: qualified demand, education-driven customers, and a smoother path from online research to local service
- Onboard new dealers and guide them to a strong launch: profile quality, responsiveness, and clear expectations
- Develop existing partners by improving engagement, speed, and quality so the handoff works for neighbors
- Use thoughtful questions and active listening to uncover what a shop values, where they hesitate, and what would make the partnership worth it
- Handle objections (pricing, process, lead quality, execution) with calm confidence and a solutions mindset
- Partner with internal teams to solve issues and improve the dealer experience
- Track activity and outcomes accurately and keep your pipeline moving
What success looks like
- You earn trust quickly and set clear expectations without being pushy
- You consistently bring in qualified dealer partners, not just more names on a list
- Existing dealers become more responsive and more effective over time
- You follow up when others stop
- You turn conversations into commitments and commitments into long-term partnerships
- Neighbors experience a better handoff, and dealers are proud to be affiliated with etrailer
What we are looking for
- 2 years in inside sales, business development, account management, or relationship-based selling
- Comfort making outbound calls and leading structured sales conversations
- Strong follow-up habits and personal accountability
- Ability to ask good questions, listen, and uncover real motives
- Confidence handling objections without becoming defensive or transactional
- Organized pipeline management and consistent activity tracking
- Works well across teams to move solutions forward
- Industry experience (trailer/towing/RV/automotive aftermarket) is a plus, not required
Benefits
Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and more
